Happy New Year!

Let me start by saying have a Healthy and HAPPY NEW YEAR!
And then I want to say a big THANK YOU to all of you who have supported us. You truly have made 2010 a great year for us here at R.O., and we hope that 2011 is even better! We have many new and exciting designs and products that we are eagerly waiting to release in the new year - more on that later though... (early Janurary).

But for now, take some time to reflect on the events of 2010. Remember to always "Count your blessing, and not you cash." The words of William A. Ward best capture our hopes for the New Year:

“Another fresh new year is here . . .
Another year to live!
To banish worry, doubt, and fear,
To love and laugh and give!

This bright new year is given me
To live each day with zest . . .
To daily grow and try to be
My highest and my best!

I have the opportunity
Once more to right some wrongs,
To pray for peace, to plant a tree,
And sing more joyful songs!”

Best Wishes from Random Objects

First let me start off by saying Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to everyone! I hope that you take the time to be with your family and friends [and eat lots of cookies, cakes, and pies]. Remember the real reason for the season; not the commercialized spending-fest that's promoted on TV. Remember that giving is the best present of all!

"What is Christmas? It is tenderness for the past, courage for the present, hope for the future. It is a fervent wish that every cup may overflow with blessings rich and eternal, and that every path may lead to peace." - Agnes M. Pahro

Destination NYC

“In New York City, every street is its own city and every borough a nation." - Anthony Simpson

New York City has to be one of the most diverse places in the entire world! There is no other place where you can be in the far east of Chinatown and within a short drive be transported to Little Italy. All the streets seem to have there own "feel" to them. This applies to the boroughs as well. Each borough has their own languages, foods, and architecture that are unique to them. If you have the time (and money) get on a bus or a train and discover the various "cities and nations" of NYC for yourself.

We have been working exceptionally hard here at Random Objects on our Top Secret Project for a long time, but it's time to finally reveal what we have been cooking up in our lab.

We have developed MacBook and iPad sleeves. Each sleeve was hand-made from high quality materials. What Goes Around ...

I find it interesting that the essence of this saying can be found in so many words of wisdom from around the world. I grew up hearing "You reap that which you sow" all the time in my family. And as I grew older I started to realize just how true those words really were. You probably know someone who was always doing something thoughtful for other people. And were you surprised to hear that this person is doing "very" well? On the other hand, you probably also know someone who is a shady chararcter. You know the type who always seems to be doing the wrong thing. Were you at all surprised to hear that this person finally got what they had coming to them?

Let these words of wisdom be a source of encouragement for those who actively seek to do positive things for themselves and others; and a word of caution for those who are up to no good. Some call it karma, but I simply say "WHAT GOES AROUND, COMES AROUND".

WHO DOES THAT?

I was trolling the net today, as I usually do, and was stopped dead in my tracks when I came across this...

and this...

Apparently two artists decided to do a project called "Freeze!" and make frozen eatable guns. These guns came in flavors of cherry, coke and licorice. Food coloring was used to make them look more realistic. Seriously... WHO DOES THAT? I am all about pushing the boundaries of art and challenging conventional thought, but ....

you might have gone too far!

What does a lion, sheep and a wolf have in common?

"What do they have in common?" you might ask. Well, they are on the two new tees we just released today! Lion For A Day is the newest addition to our line, and one of our best sellers Wolf In Sheep's Clothing in a new color. There are also some new and exciting things planned for the remainder of this year. I will be dropping some hints about "them" here on our blog. So stay tuned! Cheers

Wolf In Sheep's Clothing (silver)

I have received many e-mails asking if we were ever going to print this design in a new color. Well the answer is.... YES! This design is now available in silver, and for an added bonus, we have made the print larger! And to answer another question, yes that was our design that was being sold at Urban Outfitters.

Beware the wolf in sheep's clothing because he is bigger than ever! Cheers

Jeff Nishinaka's paper masterpieces

Every now and then I come across something that makes me literally stops me in my tracks, and makes me say... "How did he do that?" I had to take a few minutes to truly appreciate this particular piece from artist Jeff Nishinaka's portrayal of "The Lion King". I can not even begin to imagine how much time it must have taken to painstakingly cut, fold, and crimp each individual piece of paper. Nishinaka's paper masterpieces are world renowned and are bought and collected by celebrities and art connoisseurs from every corner of the globe (ask Jackie Chan owner of the largest Nishinaka collection). To take something as mundane as a plain sheet of white paper, and turn it into an intricate and layered marvel is nothing short of amazing! Wish I could see it up close for myself.

Here is some more of his work:

More aquarium awesomeness

I haven't posted a Monday Motivation in a long time, but I'm going to get back to it. Anyway, many of you probably noticed that I have a special fascination with nature - specifically ocean life. This video was shot by filmmaker Jon Rawlinson at the Georgia Aquarium (which I HAVE TO VISIT sometime in the near future). Jellyfish always boggled my mind because they look so alien, but yet they are some of the most graceful creature that you will ever see swimming in the ocean. Sit back, relax, and stare in awe. Cheers

New World Water

I recently was reading an article about this out-of-control BP oil spill quagmire and the long lasting effects it will have on our environment. The article also went on to outline the dire drought situations that some countries are currently facing. In many countries there is an extremely limited amount of fresh water available, and oil spills and pollution are endangering this most precious resource.

When I was reading this article Mos Def's song "New World Water" immediately sprang into my mind! Mos definitely dropped some knowledge about the world's current water situation. BP, Exxon, Shell and other oil companies have been reporting record profits, even after their majorly destructive oil spills!? To quote Mighty Mos (from New World Water) "they're the type of cats that pollute the whole shoreline, then purify and sell it for a $1.25". If you haven't heard the song, you need to take a listen to it and get educated. Have you ever noticed that EVIAN is NAIVE spelled backwards! Let that one marinate on your brain for a minute.

Get "YOUR VISION" checked

I hope you enjoyed all the barbequed meats, beer and pie that were in great abundance this weekend... I know I did, especially the sausage! Well to officially kick the summer off we have released a new tee and poster of "VISION TEST". This design takes inspiration from Helen Keller's famous quote "The only thing worse than being blind is having sight and no vision." How many of us have lost sight of the dreams we once had for ourselves; what happened to the goals we wanted to aspire towards? Well if you are working hard helping everyone else to fulfill their dreams and goals - maybe you should have "your vision" checked!

Did I mention that this design is also available as a POSTER! Cheers

NEW TEE PREVIEW

Here is a preview of our newest tee that will be releasing very soon. It's called VISION TEST and there will be a t-shirt and a print [poster] of this design. I wonder what quote inspired this design? Cheers

Want to sleep underwater?

The Hilton Maldives is celebrating their five year anniversary of the world's first underwater restaurant in grand fashion. They are converting their 12 seat dinning space into a private underwater suite for two. Here are some pics of the bedroom suites.

I have fallen asleep under the stars before, but I definitely have not fallen asleep 5 meters underwater before. You're basically sleeping in an aquarium! I wonder how much this underwater suite will cost for a night?

I need to hit the lottery.

Underpaid?

It has been widely reported that thousands of people are currently unemployed, but a much larger group have gone virtually unnoticed - the underpaid. Majority of these underpaid workers do jobs that make our lives much easier, even if we are unaware of the work they do. Well if you are underpaid this tee is for you:

This tee is a plexer (A plexer: is a word puzzle where words are made into a picture that stands for a phase or saying) that expresses what many of us are - underpaid. Wear this tee in protest.... and tell your boss you want a raise now! But don't get fired.

Greetings from St. Lucia

Well for Spring Break this year my wife and I decided to go to St. Lucia. Usually when you tell someone you're going to St. Lucia they say "Wow, that's great!" but then immediately have this look in their eyes like hmmm... Where's St. Lucia? Well it is a stones-throw away from Martinique, St. Vincent and Barbados in the Caribbean (now you know).

Let me say that I thoroughly enjoyed myself! If you go you MUST pull a chair up to the bar and order a Dirty Banana (I know it sounds erotic). It should be their national drink; I must have had 30 of them! Let me show you a few highlights from the trip:

Pic of the island and one of the towns located on the coast (Piton in the background).

The rain forest (which I didn't even know they had until I got there!)

The volcanic mud pit with heated mud flowing straight from the volcano up ahead. And YES I went into the mud pit and ruined my trunks and smelled like sulfur all day... and I would gladly do it again tomorrow if I could!

And lastly, the beaches with their white sand, coconut trees, and blue saltwater.

If you ever get a chance go checkout St. Lucia. You won't be disappointed... and try a Dirty Banana too! Cheers

Happy first day of SPRING

There is nothing like waking up in the morning and it is already sunny and warm. The birds are singing and chirping in the trees. A slight fresh breeze is blowing through the window. It's official - Spring is here! Makes me want to put on a fresh tee shirt, some shorts, a 5-panel cap, a pair of kicks (preferable Jordans) , and get out and do something. Enjoy the weekend everyone! Cheers

WHAT A TANGLED WEB

"Oh what a tangled web we weave, when first we practice to deceive." - Sir Walter Scott
The more that you lie - the more you get tangled up in your own complex web of deception. Remember what mother would tell you as a child "Honesty is the best policy."

Snowed In... again!

When I was a kid I absolutely loved snow days [and I still do] but to possibly be snowed in for 2 days straight is just ridiculous! I can only take so much of the flake by flake weather reports on every news station without starting to go crazy. Do they really have to measure the snow in and around the city every 30 seconds, I mean seriously! Maybe I should go outside and make a snow fort for old times sake lol.
