Merry Christmas... and a sneak peek!
First let me start off by saying Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to everyone! I hope that you take the time to be with family and friends [and eat lots of fatty foods]. Remember the real reason for the season; not the commercialized spending-fest that's promoted on TV.
About the sneak peek, we here at Random Objects have been hard at work cooking up some more awesomeness for the new year. All I am going to say is that there are BIG CHANGES on the way for 2010! Here is just a glimpse of what is coming...

Happy Thanksgiving
It's that time again to overdose yourself on turkey, stuffing, cranberry sauce, macaroni and cheese, candied yams, pumpkin, apple and sweet potato pies. Once you have finished eating, and now in a turkey induced lethargic state, remember to take some time and give thanks for the people and things that you are grateful for. Also watch this video, it will help ease the pain of over eating... no it won't, but at least you'll laugh!

Video Graffiti
Is this the future of graffiti? Have spray paint, rollers and brushes become obsolete? You have to watch this for yourself to believe it. These artists are using rollers with LED's and projectors that track their movement. Check it out.

Blu and David Ellis are at it again!
Every now and then I come across something that inspires me. This video makes me want to grab a camera, a couple gallons of paint, chalk, paint brushes and rollers - go find an abandoned building - and let my imagination run wild! Get ready for a mind trip...

Laser Etched Money Art by Scott Campbell
For those of you who don't know his work, he is an amazing NY based tattoo artist. Scott Campbell's latest exhibit is entitled “Always Almost There”. I am utterly astounded at the amount of detail the laser etching achieved in each piece. His exhibit is showing now through October 30th in London at the Lazarides Gallery . Too bad I can't book a flight to London right now to see the exhibit for myself... oh well! Here is some pics for you to stare in awe at:

Improv Everywhere
I absolutely love what Improv Everywhere does! They mastermind some really intriguing scenarios that they cleverly unleash upon the unsuspecting public. "Frozen Grand Central" is my favorite so far because it reminds me of The Happening! Only in NY can 207 people suddenly freeze in place, in the middle of Grand Central Station, and some people seemed to not even notice... or care. Look for the guy driving the cart at the 2:00 mark- his expression is priceless!

Good Morning America
Today I had the opportunity to invade the set of Good Morning America. The show is filmed in the heart of Times Square. I literally watch this show EVERDAY and being invited to not only be on set, but get VIP access, was an incredible experience! All the anchors and staff were exceptionally nice and approachable. Here's a few pics I took around the set (too many to upload them all)...

Baltimore's Inner Harbor
Every now and then you have to take a break from the everyday rat race of life. We decided to take a "one tank getaway" (somewhere you can travel on one tank of gas). So where did we end up... Baltimore's Inner Harbor. We had an incredible time! I ate so much crab that I thought I might get iodine poisoning! Here's a few pics of my journey:
First stop B-More's National Aquarium. What is it about going to the aquarium that makes you feel like a kid again?
If I saw this in the water while swimming, I think I would have a heart-attack!
Exotic Bird Exhibit
American Visionary Art Museum
Goodbye Baltimore. I'll be back again for Crab Feast!

Random Objects by RANDOM OBJECTS
Collecting random objects is an obsession for us here at RANDOM OBJECTS. It does not matter whether we are walking on a beach or on city streets; we'll find something to photograph or bring home with us! We literally have shelves devoted to the various objects we have collected. All of these objects have their own story behind them. Sea shells found after hurricane Gustav in Jamaica, a broken hand painted cross from Todos Santos, Mexico... we are always on the lookout for intriguing items!
I want to hear about, or see, your personal collections of random objects. Where did you find them? What's the story behind these items? We want to know!

Monday Motivation...
Okinawa’s "Kuroshio Sea" is the world’s second largest aquarium. I don't know why watching fish swim gracefully through the water is so fascinating to me (I'm especially loving the whale sharks and manta rays). I need to see this in person; it must be an amazing experience!
... Great song too!

Michael Jackson is THE MAN, and you know it!!
Michael Jackson is THE MAN and you know it! Even your mom and dad know it! Not the "Wacko Jacko" of recent years who holds babies over railings and looks like an alien from the X-Files, but the "King of Pop" from the 80's to about mid 90's. I'm talking about the Michael Jackson who made flocks of teenage girls pass out with a mere pelvic thrust or grab of the crouch. Don't even get me started on the Moonwalk, which I never could do! We all know about his mega-hits like Thriller, Bad, Billy Jean, and the list goes on and on..... but my personal favorite is Smooth Criminal hands down!
The movie "Moonwalker" really shot Smooth Criminal into legendary status for me. When I saw Michael do the "MOVE" (as me and my friends refer to it as), you know the one, when he seems to defy the laws of physics by leaning all the way forward.... let me tell you I must have rewound that move until the VHS tape nearly popped! More than 10+ years later and I'm still trying to figure out how he did that? R.I.P. MJ, YOU ARE STILL THE MAN!!!!

Pigeons... I mean POSTERS have landed!
Due to the numerous requests asking for a poster version of our popular Pigeons Love NY design, we decided to get some pressed up! These posters were hand silk-screened on 100# White, thick chipboard (cardboard) stock, with matte acrylic water based inks. You see pigeons almost everywhere else, so why not on your wall!

U Can't Handle The Truth
New for the Month of MAY is U Can't Handle The Truth
The Truth - we all are in search of it! People have been trying to uncover the truth to many of life's questions:
If drinking and driving is illegal, why do bars have parking lots?
How can there be a limited lifetime warranty?
Is there another word for synonym?
At a movie theater which arm rest is yours?
The list of questions goes on and on, but the truth is...
"You Can't Handle The Truth"

The News SUCKS!!
The more I watch the news the more I realize that it SUCKS! Now let me clarify myself more maturely. I have noticed a steady decline in the quality of the stories that major new channels are reporting on. They basically are just reporting on "SCARE-stories" that make people want to pack their belongings and run for the hills. Ever wonder why we are now seeing so many anti-depressant drugs being advertised on TV? There is always some silly story on the news like: Why living in the city is KILLING you, What foods may be DANGEROUS to your health or Why driving is DEADLIER than ever?
Don't even get me started on this whole "Swine Flu" thing that has people walking around wearing surgical masks!
Although there may be truth to some of these stories, who wants to hear this every single day? Why not report on people or organizations from our area, nation or even worldwide that are doing something positive. Don't tell me that Oprah has completely cornered the market on positive and motivational stories! News stations need to get back to reporting NEWS-WORTHY stories again. I challenge you to watch the news today, and keep track of the amount of negative stories to positive stories. You will be surprised at the enormous disparity between the two. [end of rant]

"Pigeons Love NY" RESTOCKED!!
Due to the overwhelming response to our "Pigeons Love NY" we had to reprint another run of these tees. My inbox has nearly self-destructed from all the comments and orders! We have been working like crazy to answer all comments and full orders. But all this craziness got me thinking about a contest!
We want some pictures of you guys in our tees for our blog. Put on one of our tees and do something totally random and take a pic. I'll send the person with the best pic a free tee... that's right a FREE TEE! So strike a pose and say "Cheeessse."

Pigeon Love NY
"Pigeons Love NY" is one of our newest designs, but I wanted to shed some light on the inspiration for this design.
Recently NY councilman Simcha Felder has proposed that the city impose a $1,000 fine for anyone caught feeding pigeons.... come on? He figures that this will control the population of pigeons in New York? If I were to list the top 5 things that people identify with New York-- our dirty feathery friends would have to be on that list!
Here's my list:
1. Times Square
2. horrendous traffic
3. street meat and pretzels
4. skyscrapers and...
5. PIGEONS !!!
Did you know that our state bird is the Eastern Bluebird... WHAT? I have never seen an eastern bluebird walking around on the sidewalks of New York, but I've seen plenty of pigeons! These foul birds have been a fixture here in NY for over a century. Our new state bird should be the Manhattan Pigeon! Send a letter to City Hall demanding to make the pigeon our new state bird.

And the winner is....
[dramatic pause]... Daniel M. from Chicago, IL
Congratulations on winning our first contest! You have won the ALPHABET tee and a rather interesting "random object" that I hope you have room for it on a shelf... hmmm, what can it be? You have to send us some pics for the blog after it arrives!
Be on the lookout for the next contest.... I already dropped a hint about it last week! Peace

Quickstrike CONTEST!
So you might be thinking, "What is a 'quickstrike' contest?" Well a quickstrike contest is a contest that happens without much, or any, warning. I might hint about it in blog posts, orders, e-mails... anywhere! We love contests here at Random Objects! I have been hinting about this contest for a while, and I have been getting e-mails asking about when it was coming. Well, the wait is over... IT'S CONTEST TIME!
The premise of the contest is simple: try to correctly identify all nine fonts in the "Alphabet" design. Here is a detailed pic of the design...
Whoever gets the closest to the correct answers by March 4 will win a free "Alphabet" tee and "a random object"... win to find out what it is! A winner will be selected and announced here on the blog on March 5, 2009. send entries to: randomobjects1@gmail.com
Good Luck, and be on the lookout for clues to other upcoming quickstrike contests. Peace

Obama's luxury TANK
If you are going to be the president of the United States of America, you might as well roll in style. Obama's vehicle is like a limo on steroids. It has it's own oxygen supply and get ready... bottles of the presidents blood in case he needs an emergency transfusion! WHAT? I bet your tricked out Honda doesn't have that.

Nike is at it again!
Sneakers have been a HUGE part of my life ever since I was little. Nike was my favorite brand because of their futuristic designs and marketing campaigns. They were such an innovative company in the 90's, but they seemed to have lost their creative spirit as of recent. But Nike seems to be getting back to thinking out of the box.
These are their newest creation, the City Knife II. These shoes are simply an awe inspiring piece of wearable architectural design. These sneakers fold completely flat! A removable molded insole is placed into the shoes to cushion the foot. These will be great when traveling abroad!

David After the Dentist
Once in a while I come across a video that makes me nearly go into convulsions laughing. This was one of those videos! Although it made me laugh hysterically, I noticed that my right wisdom tooth is starting to hurt. Maybe I have a trip to the dentist coming myself? Kind of ironic I guess.
